I am a clinical psychologist with over thirty-two years of experience. I have had a private practice in Lexington for all of that time and consider 33 Bedford Street my professional home. During this time, I have helped many people live richer, fuller, and more satisfying lives.
The decision to start therapy is an important one. It is not made lightly. I will work with you to develop a trusting alliance so that, together, we may address your concerns through an open, frank dialogue. Although we will talk about things in your life that are painful or confusing, I am committed to being an active participant in this process. I will share my ideas, thoughts and reactions. It is my goal to foster an emotionally open atmosphere in which growth and change may occur at a pace that is not overwhelming
The first few sessions will be an opportunity for you to get a sense of how I work, the kind of person I am and whether we could work together to help you move your life in a direction that is satisfying to you.
Education:
I completed my internship at Harvard Medical School in 1977, earned my Ph.D. from George Washington University in 1980. Further training included a post-doctoral program in couple and family therapy at the Alexandria Family Institute. I am also a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute for Psychoanalysis.
Professional Activities:
I have supervised and taught at Harvard Medical School, The Longwood Residency Program; The Cambridge Hospital; Boston Institute for Psychotherapy; Massachusetts Institute for Psychoanalysis, The Psychoanalytic Educational Forum of Boston, Massachusetts Association for Psychoanalytic Psychology. I have also published articles in Contemporary Psychoanalysis, Family Process and Psychological Reports.
